Container garden house: relaxation studio or guest space

Container garden house - Container houses

A garden container house is a compact, single-level, insulated and finished structure, designed and built from scratch in the factory and delivered ready to use. You place it in your own yard and use it as a relaxation studio or guest space.

The idea is simple: you add your own space to your garden, separate from the main house, without going through a classic construction site. At FDC Container Houses, such a container house is produced in 6–8 weeks, and for compact models, assembly takes only a few hours. And if you reorganize your yard over the years, a container garden house also means mobility: it can be moved. Do you want an estimate for your case? You can request an offer, and we will communicate the price depending on the model.

What is a garden container house?

At FDC Container Houses, a garden container house is a compact container house, made of a single container (monoblock), built and finished entirely in the factory and delivered ready to use, which you then place in your garden. It is a living and relaxation space — it has nothing to do with a logistics container or a garden shed. Such a container house here means a compact home, with comfort and finishes like a classic house.

What it is made of: cold-formed galvanized sheet metal structure, exclusively used in container construction, walls made of PIR foam sandwich panels, PVC joinery and, in the models with a bathroom, a fully equipped bathroom. The interior and exterior finishes are chosen during the bidding phase, to match the atmosphere in your garden.

At FDC Container Houses, the compact categories suitable for a garden container are models A (monobloc) and models B (monobloc with bathroom). You can find them in the range of monobloc container houses , where you can start choosing the right option.

Relaxing studio in the garden

The first direction is the relaxation studio: a compact space, without a bathroom (monobloc model A), arranged exactly for you as a relaxation space just for you. It can become a reading corner, yoga room, music room, personal office or creative workshop — a place just for you, a few steps from home, but with the peace and separation you are looking for.

The atmosphere matters the most here, and a garden shed made of sandwich panels supports it from the construction. Natural light enters generously through the PVC joinery, the insulation made of sandwich panels with PIR foam, supplemented with mineral wool in the ceiling and floor, keeps the temperature pleasant, and the warm finishes — paneling on the outside, parquet on the inside — make the space welcoming from the first moment. The result is a relaxation studio in the garden where you really feel good, regardless of the season.

Because the walls made of PIR foam sandwich panels are made entirely in the factory, customizations — window positions, finishes, colors — are established during the bidding phase. This way, the garden container house arrives exactly to your taste, ready-made. If you want concrete ideas, see how to set up a functional studio.

Guest space in the garden

The second direction is the guest room: a container garden house designed for complete privacy. Here you choose a monobloc model B with a fully equipped bathroom (between 18 and 30 sq m, depending on the configuration), so that your guests have everything they need, without depending on the main house.

What such a space includes: the actual room and a fully equipped bathroom, and optionally a kitchen area, which you furnish and equip yourself after assembly. The comfort is equivalent to that of a classic house, only everything happens separately from your home, in a freestanding garden container house.

The key difference from the studio is precisely the bathroom: it transforms the space into an autonomous one, where guests have their own corner, with real privacy and comfort. For the whole night or for an entire weekend, the space functions independently.

Studio or guest space — how do you choose?

The choice is simple, depending on the bathroom. Without a bathroom (studio, model A) means a more compact and accessible garden container house, ideal for personal activities. With a bathroom (guest space, model B) you get an autonomous space for guests. And if you want more space or two rooms, go for a modular house (models C). The table below summarizes the differences.

Which container house model do you choose for your garden?

For the garden, the most suitable are the compact models: A01 and A02 for a compact room, respectively B01 and B02 for a guest space with a bathroom. The choice is always related to the model, surface and compartmentalization, so you know exactly what you are getting.

For a relaxation studio, the A01 model (9,6 sq m, one bedroom, no bathroom) starts at €2.930 + VAT — the most affordable entry into a garden container house. For a guest space, the B01 model (18 sq m, one bedroom plus fully equipped bathroom) starts at €6.860 + VAT. The prices above do not include shipping and assembly.

Structure, insulation and comfort all year round

A garden container house is designed to be comfortable in any season, and this starts with the structure and insulation. The monoblock frame is made of 2 mm galvanized sheet, cold-formed, exclusively used in container construction, primed and electrostatically painted for increased resistance.

The walls are made of sandwich panels with PIR foam — 40 mm as standard, with options of 60, 80 or 100 mm for premium insulation. To these is added mineral wool in the ceiling and floor: 100 mm standard, respectively double layer (200 mm in the ceiling and 150 mm in the floor) for added comfort. A garden house made of sandwich panels configured in this way maintains a pleasant temperature both in summer and in winter.

PVC joinery comes with a 4 or 6-chamber profile and 2 or 3-pane glass (tripan glass has 3 panes), and heating is done exclusively electrically — through convectors, air conditioning with dual heating and cooling function or underfloor heating installed in the factory. All of this makes a garden container house a space where you can stay comfortably even in the cold months; you can see how to choose the right configuration for thermal comfort in winter.

If you want even more peace and quiet from the outside, superior insulation and/or 6-chamber PVC joinery with triple glazing is recommended.

Finishes and customization

The finishes make a garden container house integrate naturally into the landscape. On the outside, you can choose thermotreated paneling, available in several shades, wood-imitation sandwich panels or wooden ribbing — all with a natural and warm look, suitable for a garden.

Inside, the standard is corrugated sheet in RAL 9002 (white). Optionally, you have a smooth finish in RAL 9002, which imitates the appearance of classic walls, melamine chipboard cladding in various RAL shades or wooden ribbing. For the floor finish, you can opt for parquet or PVC carpet, available in different shades.

In models with a bathroom, it comes fully equipped, with PVC carpet flooring. The kitchen area, where it exists, is furnished and used by the customer after assembly. Because the walls made of PIR foam sandwich panels are made in the factory, all customizations are established during the bidding phase. Get inspired by the project gallery before you decide.

From relaxation to accommodation: uses for the garden house

A garden container house is surprisingly versatile. Most often it becomes a relaxing studio or guest room, but the same garden container house works just as well as a vacation home or weekend retreat in your own backyard.

If you want to go further, the space can also become a tourist accommodation — through Airbnb or Booking — when you choose to monetize it. In all variants, it remains a real space for living and relaxing, with the comfort of a real home.

Another advantage is mobility: if you reorganize your garden, the house can be moved and relocated, a flexibility that a classic construction does not offer. See why more and more people are choosing modular vacation homes and how cost-effective they can be for tourist accommodation and Airbnb.

Location, assembly and mobility

From the moment of order, production takes 6–8 weeks, and delivery depends on the distance to your garden. For compact models (A and B), the actual assembly takes only a few hours — basically, you can use your house shortly after it arrives on site.

The location is simple: a garden container house does not require a foundation, but it must be placed on concrete slabs or pillars, 10–15 cm above the ground, for proper ventilation. The land must support the weight of the container, the transport truck and the unloading equipment, and the access road must be wide enough - aspects that are the responsibility of the client and are discussed during the bidding phase.

If in years you want to move the garden container to another part of the yard, you can: mobility is a clear advantage over classic construction. As for permits, placing a container may require permits, and the requirements vary depending on the locality — you can find out at the city hall where you live. You can find useful details about what kind of foundation such a house needs and about moving and relocating.

How much does a container garden house cost?

The price of a garden container house is always linked to a specific model, with surface area and compartmentalization. For a relaxation studio, the A01 model (9,6 sq m, one room, no bathroom) starts at €2.930 + VAT. For a guest space with bathroom, the B01 model (18 sq m, one room plus fully equipped bathroom) starts at €6.860 + VAT.

These prices do not include transportation and assembly, which are offered together as a single service, depending on the distance from the factory to your location. This way you know from the start what each garden house container option includes. See the full list of prices and models to choose according to your budget.
